Oil on Canvas Adult / Child Portrait

The price for a human portrait is considerably higher because it’s much more labor intense. Human features are more difficult render compared to pets. The likeness of the subject has to be spot-on.

Selecting the Right Image

For best results, I prefer to do my own photography, of course this is only possible if you happen to live in the Wake, or Franklin County area, If driving to your location or mine is not feasible, you will need to submit the reference photo.
The following are some simple tips:

  1. Images need to be high resolution, 900 pixels or higher.
  2. Image file should be at least 1MB, but nothing larger than 5MB.
  3. Keep the face as the main focal point (even if doing a full or half-body shot)
  4. Make sure the face is well lit and that we can see the eyes clearly, and IN FOCUS
  5. Make sure it is an expression that is typical of the subject, so that it looks like them, but not a school or vacation image. Try to look for, painterly.
  6. Avoid arm and leg gestures that may lead the viewer’s eyes away from the face.
