Nubble Lighthouse

One of the most famous locations to visit, photograph, and paint, is the Nubble Lighthouse located in York Maine. It’s almost a standard for north east artist to paint this iconic scene. The resource image I used came from my good friend Linda Avery. Linda lives in New Hampshire so a visit to the Nubble Lighthouse is just a hop, skip and a jump away. She took some beautiful images during her visit and posted them on Facebook.
Linda’s images were perfect for my use. The day was sunny and the sky was blue and clear. There was just the right amount of shadow from the bright afternoon sun casting on the lighthouse. The bright sun light and shadows will give my watercolor some depth and a 3-D effect.
