Watercolor Landscape in Wake Forest Backyard

With a new puppy keeping me busy, I wasn't sure I was going to squeeze in any painting time, but I managed to do so. This is a view of my back yard. I did an oil painting of that same tree, this past summer. It was the strong light and shadows that attracted me to this scene. With the lighting conditions being favorable in the winter season, the colors on the ground still have that autumn flavor, I was ready for a painting session. Here in Wake County NC, the winters are much milder than say, the North east coast, and we are lucky that we continue to see some of the greens that traditionally disappear in colder claimants.

By far, this is one of my favorite watercolor paintings. I was very excited about this painting as I was able to paint more details that included the house behind my property, the chain link fence, and the old cloths line post. Hmm… I’m beginning to wonder, if landscapes are the way to go for my watercolor painting.

We shall see.
